Project Description
The Liberty Science Center has been a staple attraction in Jersey City for 30 years and draws in over 750,000 guests a year to its countless exhibits. Included within the science center is the café that serves as the heart of the building. In partnership with Richardson Design and Aramark, the food lines and front service counters were fully updated to create a new flow with greater employee efficiency.
Along with new architectural finishes and lighting throughout, new digital monitors were added to simplify updates to the menu and branding opportunities. To supplement the counter service, the team added mobile pick up as well as a grab-and go market with self-serve checkout adjacent to the main cafe. These elements quickly increased the food court’s functionality and variety of items that can be sold by the museum to cater to all guests.
Lastly, the dining area was revitalized with new finishes and furniture to create a central hub for all food service options provided by the Science Center while also increasing the amount of guests the space can accommodate. Modernfold glass walls were installed to segregate areas of the dining room from one another in the case of private events.
